Light Truck Driver

Overview

A Light Truck Driver operates smaller trucks to transport goods over shorter distances. They may deliver packages or goods to retail locations, or provide services such as landscaping or plumbing. They must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

The main responsibilities of a Light Truck Driver include driving the truck to and from the destination, loading and unloading cargo, keeping the vehicle clean and well-maintained, following traffic laws and safety regulations, and maintaining accurate records of deliveries and pick-ups. They may also be responsible for planning routes, communicating with customers or dispatchers, and reporting any problems or accidents.

    To become a Light Truck Driver, one typically needs a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the type of truck being driven. Some employers may prefer candidates with experience driving light trucks, although on-the-job training may be provided. Light Truck Drivers must have excellent driving skills and be able to safely operate the truck in a variety of weather and road conditions. They must also have strong time-management and organizational skills to ensure that deliveries are made on time.
